Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves
A Queensland first, this man-made climate controlled cave hosts thousands of glow worms and is operated and maintained by fully trained Wildlife Tour Guides. Located on the grounds of Cedar Creek Estate you wind through rainforest paths before entering the spectacular man-made caves.
How it all started...

The initial concept for the artificial glow worm cave arose from concern over increased tourism to particular sections of Tamborine National Park at night. John Penglis the owner of Cedar Creek Estate wanted to preserve the natural habitat by creating a purpose built man made cave where visitors could still experience the magic of the glow worms even during the day. Cave construction took fourteen months, finishing in mid 2004. The first glow worms (Arachnocampa flava) were introduced into the cave in February 2005. Once this colony was established the doors opened to the public on March 1st, 2006.
The caves consist of two large chambers interlinked by tunnels. The first cave is the presentation cave where guests are shown an audiovisual display on the glow worms in a replica lime-stone cave, complete with stalagmites, stalactites and water features. From this stunning cave you will be guided through the magical glow worm cave filled with the largest display of glow worms in Australia.
The experience is one you have to see to believe!
