Our mix of rolling hills and rugged mountains means we’re a popular day trip and short break destination for on-road and off-road cyclists, as well as south-east Queensland motorbike touring fans and others from further afield. Out national parks offer some of the best bushwalking Queensland has – with tracks suitable for beginners and also options for seasoned walkers seeking remote locations away from the crowds. Guided walks help reveal our hidden treasures and stories, as well as making it easy to identify the thousands of plants, birds and other Australian wildlife.

Experienced abseilers and  climbers, and those with guided help, relish the challenge of cliff faces in the Mount Barney area and Mt French’s Frog Buttress, near Boonah. Visitors can also enjoy tails on horse-back, golf and watersports on Lake Moogerah and Lake Maroon.

The full magnificence of this spectacular scenic region is best seen from the air – hot air balloon adventures take off from a number of our Gold Coast hinterland locations, near Beaudesert and west towards Boonah. Canungra, Beechmont and Mt Tamborine are popular hang-gliding locations and Boonah’s thermals are fast becoming some of the best Queensland gliding adventures.
