Main Range National Park

About Main Range NP

Rugged mountain ranges, breath-taking lookouts, rare wildlife and a mosaic of vegetation types: Main Range NP is located on the western side of the Scenic Rim and is home to pockets of rainforest in moist sheltered locations, interspersed with open eucalypt forest on the dry ridges and montane heaths on the high rocky outcrops.

The park covers almost 30,000 hectares and is accessed from a number of locations including Cunningham’s Gap, Spicer’s Gap and Goomburra. Queen Mary Falls is also a lovely drive and easily accessible picnic spot. When walking in Main Range, look out for the seldom-seen Albert’s Lyrebird, the eastern bristlebird and the black breasted button quail.
